We have never believed that the “big factory” model of choosing furniture works very well. That is why we began Form & Function almost 30 years ago and we have much to tell you about what we’ve learned along the way.

We’re committed to offering you a range of furniture that is not only beautifully constructed, but is also healthy, earth-friendly and becomes an integral part of your life. We call this “furniture for keeps.”

Our primary focus is on our own in-house hardwood designs–our signature VERUS line of furniture. Ian Johnstone, our master builder for over 20 years, has worked with us to develop an ever-growing catalogue of tables, chairs, beds and casework, bench-made of North America’s finest hardwoods. We also work closely with a carefully-edited number of family-owned manufacturers whose approach to materials and craftsmanship mirrors that of our own workshop.

At Form & Function, we take very seriously the trust you place with us when you decide to furnish your home with our products. We believe that not only is it good economics to make careful choices to ensure timeless design and long term durability, but that there is a value to things which, when kept for many years, become uniquely woven into your life. The way a Cherrywood dining table that a family grows up around becomes infused with birthdays, holidays and lazy, weekend mornings.

If your table can only seat four people day to day but, on occasion, must open up for ten, so be it. If you love the unique grain patterns of Black Walnut, we won’t offer you some-kind-of-brown-wood, call it “espresso,” and say it’s right in fashion. In fact, for us, furniture fashion is an oxymoron.

Our no-compromise approach also applies to the small number of manufacturers we have partnered with over the years. We know exactly how they work, we have visited their plants, and we carefully edit their products to bring you the best of their best.

You’re invited to visit our showroom in Vancouver and we’ll show you much more about what we do and how we do it. We have almost 30 years experience to share with you!
